Letter From The House of Commons
Truly honoured to receive this letter from my local MP Brian Leishman from the House of Commons following the Young Scot Awards finalist announcement. Grateful for the kind words and proud to represent Clackmannanshire through my work.
It reads -
“Dear Kyle,
I wanted to write to offer my congratulations on being named a finalist in the Entertainment and Culture category at this year's Young Scot Awards.
To be shortlisted out of 400 nominees is a remarkable achievement and a true testament to the strength of your creative work and your contribution to the cultural life of our community.
You've not only developed a distinctive and expressive artistic voice, but you've done so while staying deeply connected to Clackmannanshire and using your art to uplift others. I know how much time and heart goes into a creative career, so it's great to see your talent recognised like this.
I was especially touched by your mural for Forth Valley Royal Hospital that you created as a way of thanking NHS staff for the care your grandfather received. It's clear that your work is about far more than paint on canvas - it's about people, memory, and connection.
If I was to pick a favourite of your pieces it would have to be the Shaun of the Dead painting.
It's a great tribute to, as far as I'm concerned, the finest entry in the Cornetto Trilogy. It's that blend of pop culture and personal insight that makes your work stand out.
As your MP, I'm proud to see a local artist gaining national recognition - but as someone who cares deeply about the future of our community, I'm even more excited about the potential your story has to inspire others. I hope that young people across the Wee County will see what you've achieved and feel encouraged to pick up a brush, explore their creativity, and believe that their voice matters. Art isn't just for galleries - it belongs in our schools, our homes, our hospitals, and in the hands of anyone with something to express.
Best of luck at the awards ceremony in Glasgow this month. I'll be keeping an eye out for the result, and regardless of the outcome, I hope you take a moment to enjoy what you've already achieved. Please stay in touch - I'd be glad to hear more about your future projects”
Signed,
Best wishes,
