I Graduated from the Glasgow School of Art!
After four years of studying Fine Art: Painting and Printmaking, I’ve officially graduated from the Glasgow School of Art!
It’s a strange feeling, sort of bittersweet, really. On one hand, I’m sad to be leaving. I’ll miss the the honest feedback during group crits, and the chance to bounce ideas around with other artists. There was something special about being surrounded by people all trying to figure out their own work at the same time.
At the same time though, I’m ready to move on. I feel like I’ve grown so much during my time there, not just as a painter but as a person. My work’s become more grounded in things that matter to me, like stories, people, everyday life and I’ve built up a clearer sense of what I want to say through it all.
The degree show felt like a full-circle moment. Seeing my paintings on the wall, finished and lit properly, and hearing how people connected with them especially around themes of working-class life and family, it was really rewarding. I was lucky enough to sell a few pieces too, which was a massive confidence boost.
As for what’s next… I don’t have a strict plan, and to be honest, I kind of prefer it that way. I want to take things as they come. I’ll keep making, keep showing and see where the work takes me. There are a few exciting projects in the pipeline that I’ll hopefully be able to share more about soon, and I’ve just confirmed a solo show for later this year which I’m buzzing about.
Massive thanks to everyone who’s supported me along the way, It genuinely means a lot.
